“My name is Ella Dobner and I’m a classer based in the Riverina district of New South Wales. I’ve been classing for five years, starting in southern Queensland and now working across NSW, with experience in Victoria and South Australia.
This year, I’ve had the opportunity to class the studs at Pooginook. They’ve bred an outstanding line of sheep. The ewes I classed today were averaging just under six kilos of fleece at only nine months’ growth, with ideal staple lengths of 90–100mm. They carry the genetics for heavy-cutting wool while remaining manageable for shearers.
Full credit to the Pooginook staff for presenting ewes that are clean, well-prepared, and low in dust and vegetable matter. A true pleasure to class.”
